4.26.19
6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to Avinu; seven days you must eat unleavened bread. 7 On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall do no customary work on it. 8 But you shall offer an offering made by fire to Avinu for seven days. The seventh day shall be a holy convocation; you shall do no customary work on it. (Le 23:6-8 )
14 “Three times you shall keep a feast to Me in the year: 15 You shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread (you shall eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month of Abib, for in it you came out of Egypt; none shall appear before Me empty);” (Ex 23:14-15 )
3 You shall eat no leavened bread with it; seven days you shall eat unleavened bread with it, that is, the bread of affliction (for you came out of the land of Egypt in haste), that you may remember the day in which you came out of the land of Egypt all the days of your life. 4 And no leaven shall be seen among you in all your territory for seven days, nor shall any of the meat which you sacrifice the first day at twilight remain overnight until morning. (De 16:3-4 )
Six days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be a sacred assembly to Avinu Elohekah. You shall do no work on it. (De 16:8 )
Few realize that it took seven days for Israel to exit Egypt. The first fifteen verses of chapter fourteen serve as a prelude to the soon coming, miraculous deliverance that was about to unfold. As the Scriptures pick up the story, Israel has come through a narrow valley and are camped on the banks of the Red Sea.
When they look behind themselves and see Paro coming after them with six hundred chariots and thousands of armed soldiers, they realize that they are trapped and begin to panic. Moses tries to calm them but soon realizes that the panic stricken Israelites are starting to get out of control. Avinu has the stage set and gives Moses the orders to move forward.
Shemot 14:1 – 15:22 covers36 – 48 hours and describes how Avinu “saved Israel” from their enemies with the drowning of paro and his army.
Rev 15:1-19:21 Shows us the connection between Israel’s deliverance and the final deliverance still to come.
